With sore butts and happy hearts, we set out from Mui Ne. We had previously decided Da Lat as our destination for the end of the day. The day would be filled with sightseeing, sand dunes and sunburns. It also happened to have the most variety of landscape while riding in a day. Ocean, jungle, desert, mountains....this leg of the motorbike ride had it all!
Why Visit Mui Ne?
Mui Ne is a nice little beach town. Plenty of clean sand and beach bars to catch a buzz at. Mui Ne is also famous for its Red Sand Dunes and it’s White Sand Dunes. While sand dunes may have made Mui Ne internationally famous on the flipside the town is notorious for it’s cops. See, Mui Nes morally ambivalent police are always looking to shake down a few tourists for a few thousand Dong. If you're riding through the area be sure to carry a fake wallet with a limited amount of cash. In case you get stopped you can present a near empty wallet to an officer. It will back up the claim to only having a few Dong on you.A bit to the North of Mui Ne proper is Bau Trang (White Lake), right on the base of the white sand dunes. Road building crews were happy to take a break from work to watch us put a drone up in the sky. After a quick stop at White Lake our motorbike convoy headed north through a mountain pass. While on an incline we decided to have the slowest drag race in history (but still manage to pass a broken down tour bus). By the end of the day we were happy to finally reach Da Lat and get some rest. The drive north from Mui Ne to Da Lat was one of the most beautiful of our trip and is a section of road not to be missed on any Vietnam motorcycle trip.
