Motorbiking Northern Vietnam - Lang Son & Cao Bang
After 55 days spent riding from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi the journey finally has an end in sight. Just because the end is near doesn't mean the going gets any easier though.
Bad Luck in Lang Son
Bad luck rides shotgun as the motorbikes rack up 2 flat tires and need to go to 3 different mechanics. All that in a span of just 10km. After finally getting their motorbikes road worthy again the Diemers head North again. They tour the highway close to the Chinese border of Vietnam and visit the towns of Lang Son and Cao Bang.
After riding within a few kilometers of the Chinese boarder its south back to Hanoi. In Hanoi, its time to ship the motorbikes back to Ho Chi Minh City and get a few days rest before the next destination.
The Last Laughs near Cao Bang
Those last bittersweet kilometers of the journey are far from wasted. The Diemers make time to:
Smash down some shots with locals during a boozy lunch.
Get pulled over by the police.
Shoot some of the best drone footage from the entire trip.
Vietnam Motorbike Trip Review
Vietnam was the adventure of a lifetime-the motorbike trip from south to north is a bucket list item that exceeds your wildest expectations in every way. If you're at all on the fence about doing this, remember that Fin had never ridden a bike solo in her life. She learned to ride on a piece of abandoned road outside Nha Trang. From there, she spent the next month and half riding nearly every day.
The highway speeds are relatively slow and the journey can be as safe as you want to make it. If you are gearing up for your own Vietnam motorcycling adventure consider checking out this post where we go over some basic items you'll want to bring with.
